From the north (Germany-Salzburg-Vienna): motorway A10 / Tauernautobahn towards Villach until exit St. Michael, continue on the B96 via Unternberg to Tamsweg.

From the south (Italy-Carinthia): motorway A10 / Tauernautobahn towards Salzburg through the Katschbergtunnel until exit St. Michael, continue on the B96 via Unternberg to Tamsweg.

From the east (Styria): motorway A9 towards Linz until exit 133, continue on the S36, then B96 via Murau to Tamsweg.
